hope from Job, 34 of 34: obedience and the goodness of the Lord

Did anyone else notice?  God never mentioned Elihu.  I guess this means I have to go back and read what Elihu says to know if God is talking about him without mentioning his name.

Another observation:  the three friends “did what the Lord told them,” in 42:9; Job prayed for “his friends,” and God “made him prosperous again and gave him twice as much as he had before,” Job 42:10.  In Job 42:12 this is restated as, “God blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the first.”

There is hope for the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living:

  • He makes the sun to shine on the good and the bad, Matthew 5:45
  • In Him we live and move and have our being, Acts 17:28
  • Jesus said He would send us a comforter, John 14:16 and 16:7
  • and leave us His peace, John 14:27

There’s more, I already wrote about it here:  https://offbeatonpurpose.wordpress.com/?s=land+of+the+living

I have to remind myself of Philippians 3:19, my citizenship is in heaven as well as my savior, not here on earth.
